What is Claircognizance?

ClaircognizanceHave you ever been in the driving somewhere and you know something bad is about to happen? Perhaps you were driving down the road, paying clear attention to your surroundings but then suddenly you know in your mind and in your gut that something is about to occur. You keep driving but slow down a bit, when suddenly you see a deer on the side of the road.

Maybe you’ve received a message about something or someone before. Maybe you’ve been hanging around with your friends or you’re out to dinner when all of the sudden you’re struck with the knowledge that Debbie’s aunt isn’t doing well.

These incidents are examples of claircognizance, the psychic ability of clear knowing. Perhaps you don’t know much about the metaphysical and you’re traditionally a logical person – and that’s totally cool. Most people who are claircognizant are logical in nature and they receive psychic information via spontaneous ideas.

Claircognizant people often enjoy working through problems by finding creative solutions but they can be tricky to identify, even by those who possess the gift. Those who are claircognizant just know things and they can’t explain how or why they know them. If you are claircognizant, you will find that in moments such as those above, you just know. The knowledge pours into your head and it could be in the form of guidance or prophecy.

If any of this resonates with you, you could be claircognizant.

What does it mean to be claircognizant?

The technical definition for claircognizance is “clear knowing,” which an accurate description of how the gift works. It is the psychic sense of receiving information by clearly knowing it. Those who have this gift suddenly know a lot of information and it often comes all at once in the form of a download. Often the information is sent to the individual by their spirit guides, angels, and/or higher self.

As we said before, this gift can be difficult to identify and that is for one main reason. If the individual isn’t yet familiar with his or her intuitive gifts, it can seem like the information that comes to them is simply their own thoughts. The knowledge that comes with claircognizance will often feel like it’s coming out of left field, but it’s correct. As the individual gains more experience, he or she will be able to distinguish between their own thoughts and knowledge from the spirit world.

Signs you are claircognizant

It is important to remember that psychic abilities are different for everyone, so if your gifts don’t fit this mold exactly, that doesn’t mean that they’re wrong, bad, or less valuable. If any of the following signs resonate with you, you could have claircognizant abilities.

  • You often have lightbulb moments where sudden ideas pop into your head and you get excited to share them.
  • Your strong sense of inner knowing gives you a head’s up when something isn’t quite right. You usually know when something is a bad idea.
  • You can tell when someone is lying to you even when the evidence is lacking.
  • You know about future outcomes.
  • Your ideas feel inspired, good, and like they are bigger than you.
  • When you misplace something, you suddenly know where it is.

How to develop this skill

To enhance your claircognizance, start working with your pendulum. You can gain answers to questions about the little things in life such as “Will it this week?” or “Is my mom going to call me on Saturday?” While you’re asking the questions, be aware of the answer that pops into your head before your pendulum gives you an answer. You may find that you’re not accurate 100% of the time and that’s okay.

Another effective way to develop your gift is to practice automatic writing. To do this, set aside about 30 minutes and go to a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Then, ask your higher self a question and start writing everything that comes up. Perhaps this will feel silly or fake at first, but it’s important to not come at it from a logical perspective. Let your pen do the walking and see what was written down when you’re done.
